Metaphorically, a circle is a line where all points are equal from the center with no edges. No one point is superior to another. The number 9 is revered in many cultures and is considered complete because it represents all other numbers within it. It represents patience and harmony. It is the number of love and faith. The qualities of the digit nine include friendship, spirituality, unity, and the ability to see things clearly.
With those qualities in mind, Nine Circles of Unity is an abstract painting of blues, grays, and black with orange highlights. The strong interchange of culture and diversity is symbolized by the intersection of color in the middle of the painting.
Some say abstract art is just meaningless paint on canvas without much effort. My challenge in creating these works is what I want to say and express. That to me makes art interesting, and I find joy in that when it comes together. Every stroke and every line is throughout to create a balance of shape, color, and texture. Every stroke is brushed or drawn on by hand.
